We are headed down the road! We started off at the beach along Sand Dunes Rd in Florence, OR and got a few photos of us, our back tires, and the Pacific. No we didn't take our whole bike down to the beach like we said we would, but you didn't see the dune that was between the parking lot and the beach. Also, I've come to realize that sand is a lot like dog hair - it gets everywhere and stays everywhere - and I'd rather not have the sunny, hot beach taunting me in a few weeks while I am in the middle of the Rockies.
Today is a beautiful day with a high of 67 degrees, little wind, and no rain. Yes no rain! We are in a super wet state, in a super wet month, and the forecast along our path shows sunshine with clouds for a week. This is such a blessing to us as we can figure out a routine without having to worry about the weather complicating things - thank you Jesus.
We should fess-up that today is technically our second day on the bike. (I will pause while you all gasp, curse, and give us the cold shoulder.) To make today easier we went to the beach yesterday as soon as we got into town to take the pictures, then we biked 5.4 miles to the hotel. That made this morning go so much smoother, especially since at the original beach we picked out we couldn't get down to the water.
