Six
We are in Kentucky for our second day in a small town called Utica. We are staying the night at the community center/fire house. Joining us tonight is a group of six who all met up along the way. By starting early we missed out on this opportunity, the opportunity of biking with someone for a few hours or even days. But finding lodging for two is way easier than finding free lodging for six.
It is tempting to want to turn back around and ride with these guys for a while, they are a super fun group. We have a dad and daughter duo, a Hawaiian guy named Evan, a guy who lives three miles down from the dad and daughter duo (they had never met before this trip), a Philadelphian girl, and last but not least is the girl who broke her chain a couple miles before camp. Besides the duo, the rest are about college or post college age. Did I mention these guys are a riot? I am sitting here listening to them laugh and tease each other.
In other news we had our fifth rain day today. We were able to find some trees but they didn’t do much in the thunderstorm so we pulled out our rainfly. We stayed there for a little bit but then headed out once it lightened up a bit. So either way we were soaked.
Jake Report:
Miles: 73.0, time on bike: 5h 53m, average: 12.4,
