As we prepared for the trip, the thing I dreaded most was where we would sleep each night. Some of you know that on our test ride back in August (from IL to IN), finding a place to sleep was a challenge. We had read on other blogs to just go up to people and ask; it didn't go too well for us though. First of all what do you say? (Josh did all the talking, thank you Josh!) After a few failed attempts and a few calls we were able to find a church. We slept in the lawn and were so blessed by the pastor (who is big into back-packing and shared some tips) and also the couple who took care of the janitorial duties. This couple and pastor not only gave me hope that biking across country was possible but also restored my faith in humanity.
Because finding a place to stay is not all that easy, I prepared myself by memorizing Matthew 6:28-30 so that as we bike along theses beautiful areas with their own "lilies of the field" I will remember that there is a place for my head that night.
Thankfully thus far this trip has been fairly smooth sailing when it comes to nights. Our maps are detailed and it’s early in the camping season so there’s been more than enough room for us.
Jake Report Day 11:
Miles: 63.6; Time on bike: 5 hrs 34 min; Average: 11.4 mph; Weather: warm, morning head wind, afternoon tail wind; 2,000 ft climb

And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, oh you of little faith?
