Our Norwegian comrade was biking with 3 Dan's and a guy from Minnesota. These guys crossed paths in Kansas and have been biking west together since then. One thing we've noticed is that pairs or groups of bikers don’t necessarily do the biking part together. They might just meet up at the same place at night but stick to their own routine otherwise. Josh and I were thinking this was the best way to go if you aren’t married to the person. A host of ours witnessed two German riders having it out on the side of the road as he drove past. We are in it for the long haul whether we're tired of the other or not.
For the last four days we've had terrible wind. Those of you who've driven I-80 should remember the many signs for strong gusts. Wyoming you get the prize for worst wind ever, but we've heard Kansas is no cake walk either. So Colorado, thank you for being our refuge for the next week. We received the update of Kansas winds from a Norwegian biker who only showed his accent when pronouncing state names.

Thanks for your comment Alan. I've thought about these things some too but in relation to marriage. Sometimes people ask if Brie and I have been getting along or if we get tired of each other. We usually respond that we are married so we are in it for the long run and no matter what we know that we will work through any hard times. There have been times on really windy days or really steep climbs where one of us feels like taking our time and the other just wants to conquer the challenge and get it over with quickly (both of us have had each mindset). Or sometimes one of us starts complaining about the difficulties. In those times it would seem easier to go separate and bike on our own. But as you said there's something about working together through the difficulty that brings about more in the end. I think the trip has challenged us both individually and how we work together as a couple but the challenges cause us to rely more on God and look to him for our strength and protection. Today will be day 45 of 24/7ness with Brie but that has been one of my favorite parts of the trip.
